Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)

MLD was founded by Dr Emil and Estrid Vodder in the 1930s. It has been described as ‘one of the best kept secrets on the health and beauty scene’. Its light touch and intensely relaxing effect mask its strength.

Specific, gentle and rhythmical movements of the skin stimulate the lymphatic system (the body’s waste disposal system), increasing lymphatic circulation to up to 100 times. The effect of a treatment lasts for up to six hours.

MLD is both preventative and remedial. Benefits include:

•An excellent option to detoxify, reduce cellulite and fluid retention. It has a tonic effect on internal peristalsis, which in turn aids digestion. Helps boost a sluggish immune system, e.g. shift a lingering infection. Dr Vodder recommended that each healthy person should have a course of ten MLD treatments a year.
•Rejuvenating facials clean and clear the skin, improve skin conditions and reduce puffiness around the eyes. MLD counteracts the signs of ageing – another option for natural ‘face lift’!
•Removal of excess fluid and waste. Recommended to people with low activity, those standing on their feet all day, or to pregnant women. Balances the body and its hormones before, during and after pregnancy – adding nothing toxic. Read here why leading fertility expert Zita West recommends MLD.
•Speeds up healing of burns and scars. A facelift patient in France is given a prescription for 30 daily MLD treatments to reduce swelling and bruising, and speed healing. The appearance of old scars and stretch marks can be improved.
•Promotes the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, sprains.
•Can positively affect migraine, arthritic problems, eye and ear problems (‘glue ear’ in children) and congested sinus.
•The effects of MLD on the nervous system make it one of the most relaxing treatments. Perfect for stress and pain control and to improve quality of sleep.
